Where it is useful
Sand, shingle, mixed. Match bait choice to the mark, target species, hook pattern and casting distance rather than assuming one bait is best everywhere.
Presentation and freshness
Use a bait size that matches the target and hook. Tougher baits can help with powerful casts; softer baits may need bait elastic. Refresh washed-out or damaged bait and keep unused bait in suitable condition.
Responsible bait use
Follow local bait-collection rules, access restrictions and conservation guidance. Avoid taking more natural bait than you need for the session.
